"If the truth be known, The MusicCue
purchase really came out of the blue. No one here, including the
owner, was planning on buying anything when we saw the demo in
May. At the end of the demo, Mike made the decision to buy."
Don Arbukle, Sound Editor, ARU Chicago.
"We all wear a lot of hats here, and
we are always on the look out for anything that makes our jobs
easier and more efficient. Fully networking our operation for a
facility like this is the best way to let a few people accomplish
a lot." Betty Rake, Studio Manager, ARU Chicago
"mSoft ServerSound seamlessly
interfaces with AMS Neve's StarNet post production network."
John Eustace, AMS Neve plc
"APM, the world's largest production
music library, is eager to have its music delivered in digital
form to our thousands of clients around the United States and
Canada. APM is owned jointly by EMI, the world's largest music
publishing company, and Zomba Music, the largest independent music
company in the world. We have studied all of the digital delivery
systems available for the local installation of music files and
associated metadata and have reached the conclusion that the mSoft
system is the best local solution. The system offers a wide
variety of choices for our wide range of clients, and the
agreements you have negotiated with the various editing systems
and the software toolsets and plug-ins that you have created makes
mSoft the only supplier who can currently deliver all the options
required for digital work stations to easily use production
music." Adam Taylor, President, Associated Production

"MSOFT Server Sound is a wonderful,
high ? speed sound effects library tool. The internet / server
combination has proven to be a reliable source for sound effects
searching for everyone. All of our users in both Chicago and Santa
Monica have access at any time, all the time, without compromising
speed or quality issues. It runs just as smooth with our AVID
suites as with our SSL audio rooms. Its flexibility lets each
individual user create his or her spot or job database, which can
be amended at any time. Thus finding lost sound effects has never
been easier. MSOFT Server Sound fits into our company very well
and has broadened our scope of sound design. No more pulling CDs
or connecting to changers. Server Sound is an excellent resource
for us." Dave Kelly,
Avenue Edit
"All of CBS' Fairlight, Avid, and
ProTools workstations share access to the MusicCue system. The
Avid users are able to access and transfer files in the mSoft
system over our Avid Unity server's network, so that was an added
plus for us. mSoft's technicians have been there with us all the
way in planning for all the network issues, and as such we have
been able to get the full benefit of everything their technology
has to offer a large facility like CBS." Al Kennedy,
Director of Advertising & Promotions, CBS TV
"mSoft is a Digidesign developer
partner and ServerSound is compatible with ProTools . We get good
comments from our mutual clients". Ed Gray, Digidesign
developer partner program.
"Our mSoft ServerSound blends in
seamlessly with our networked environment. We have over 40 users
in 2 locations 20 miles apart who are hitting our server daily.
The ease of use, coupled with the size and quality of our library,
make ServerSound one of the most powerful new tools we have
invested in." Jeff Malham, Senior Engineer - Digital Sound
& Picture, Burbank CA
"A large part of what we do here at
the Discovery TV Center in Miami is the customization of domestic
programming for international release. This includes creating
music and sfx tracks for programs in preparation for dubbing and
mixing of multi-language versions. Since putting the Server Sound
on-line we have practically doubled our output. The speed in which
we can audition and import into our protools systems has aloud us
to keep up with the demands of all Discovery's international
network needs.At the time
we purchased our Server Sound we were relatively new to computer
networking our workstations, Amnon and his staff were invaluable
in walking us through all the steps necessary to both integrate
their server and to improve our computer network overall. Since
then they have always been quick and responsive to our ever
growing needs, even to the point of customizing their product to
better suit our working habits. mSoft excels in both product and
service which is a very rare commodity these days." Wayne
Murray, Discovery Channel
"Life has been great since we
installed an mSoft server fully loaded withsound effects. Sessions
go faster, and the variety of sounds along with the speed of
loading them into our ProTools systems just boggles the minds of
our producers!" Paul Markey, Discovery Channel
"We took a CD storage room we're currently
renting at $40 a square foot, and turned it into a ProTools room
billing out at hundreds of dollars an hour. It doesn't take a
genius to see the wisdom of putting in a system like this for a
cosmopolitan facility like ours".
Robert Pomann, President, Pomann Sound, NY
"The ability to add my own remarks about music
will really enhance my ability to find just the right track for
each production. I'll be able to listen to new music as it comes
in and make my notes on how it could be used, or just quickly
add my name in a track's remarks field; and the next time I
search for ?alternative acoustic rock RANDY' ? and bingo ?
all the stuff I marked comes up ? ya gotta love that!"
Randy Hinderling, Music Director, Pomann
Sound, New York, NY
"I have worked with many SFX systems in my 25
years in audio sound design. The mSoft Server Sound system
surpasses them all in flexibility, reliability, and speed. It
integrates seemlessly with Digidesign ProTools. I have yet to
experience a computer lock-up or crash while using the mSoft
system (a common occurance in other systems I've used). Above
all the technical support is the best around. Operational help
is always just a phone call away. Questions not answered by
phone are usually resolved by a visit from mSoft tech support
within a day. Most importantly, my clients are always blown away
with the speed and quality I am able to provide with the power
of mSoft Server Sound."
Blaine Stewart, CEO Post
Plus Sound, Inc. Burbank, CA

"It's got a searchable database that runs on any
browser - you can just suck these sound effects into your
editor. It's a big time saver and very efficient."

"Doppler Studios, a seven-room audio facility in
Atlanta, has recently installed an mSoft ServerSound hard disk audio
retrieval system, enabling storage and instant retrieval of
Doppler's entire collection of sound effects libraries. The system
includes 250 gigabytes of online storage, now providing engineers
and clients with instant access to over 40,000 sound effects from
any of Doppler's control rooms or audio suites. The system is also
available for offline searches and auditions. Chief Engineer Joe
Neil says his staff is particularly excited about the efficiency
that the system provides for commercial sessions. "The majority of
our clients are advertising agencies, and most of the work we do for
them involves sound design for picture, or 'painting a picture'
using sound effects for radio." Before they installed SeverSound,
engineers would search for sound effects in a database, then load
them into a workstation from CDs. "Now, the engineer can search for
and play sound effects from their chair in the control room, make
on-the-spot decisions about which ones to use, then download the
ones they need straight into the workstation." Apparently, Doppler's
clients are noticing the difference. Says Neil: "The fact that the
engineers can audition any of our sound effects without leaving the
room is really impressing our clients." Doppler is a premier
commercial recording studio which serves a wide variety of audio
clients, and provides a complete lineup of services including:
recording, editing and mixing audio for radio and television; sound
design for television and video; CD assembly and duplication;
multimedia file conversion, ISDN links, and commercial music
recording and mixing."
Joe Neil, Chief Engineer
Doppler Studios, Atlanta, GA
"The Server Sound system has changed the way we work-
for the better. Searching through the CDs was a hindrance to the
creative process. Server Sound let's you try new sounds with very
little time investment. It's made our sound designers very happy and
our games sound better. Our Avid video editors love it also. They
can grab some library SFX for the sales, or marketing, video and let
the sound designers continue to work on the products."
Ken Felton,
Audio Director Electronic Arts
"Our Fairlight ServerSound by mSoft seamlessly puts
more than a terabyte of commercially available sound and music clips
at the fingertips of our customers worldwide." John Lancken,
Fairlight ESP. Director, VP of Sales
"At Fox Digital, we are enthusiastic proponents of
server technology and utilizing networking to move media files. This
is why I was so interested in ServerSound, and the possibility of it
simplifying and streamlining our auditioning of sound effects and
music in post production. With over 500 hours of music and effects
from our library now quickly retrievable via intranet, our post
production team can make more efficient use of their time in more
creative pursuits. The impact on our operation is also measurable,
since less effort is wasted hunting down DATs and CDs throughout the
facility. Additionally, as ServerSound develops, mSoft continues to
provide superb product and technical support. I can confidently say
that I am pleased with our choice to incorporate ServerSound into
our on-air promo operations here at Fox."
Brian Timm, Director of Post Production, 20th Century
Fox Digital

"At Grand Central, we run four digital studios using
AMS Logic2 consoles. Our work is exclusively top end commercials for
blue chip clients. A normal day will see 15 to 20 sessions. Sound
effects form a critical part of our work ? variety, depth of
choice, quality, and above all; speed of availability are critical.
Before we found ServerSound, we rejected a number of other systems.
ServerSound being NT based and woven around an Internet Hub offered
full networking coupled with the network interfacing to our AMS
Logic consoles, and also our PC and Mac platforms ? and it's simple
to use! We have over 300 GB of SFX on line and the days of the stack
of CDs in the studio for each session are over!"
Ivor Taylor, Principal
"mSoft "EdgeServer" is the universal retrieval

"The mSoft KillerServer is a "turn-key" server
computer system that comes with the Killer Track libraries
pre-loaded onto its hard drives." Phil
Spieller, KillerTracks
"In business for over 25 years, Master's has become
one of the leading audio post-production facilities in the world.
Though Master's provides audio services to a wide range of clients
in the entertainment industry, the bulk of its business is derived
from producers of Large Format Films (Imax, Iwerks, Showscan),
Feature Films, Specialty Format/Ride Films (Imax Ridefilm, Simex,
Showscan and Mainframe), and Music Recording.
Master's ordered ServerSound for use with their 9
Soundscape workstations. "Since taking over ownership of Master's
Workshop in April of 1999, the ServerSound system was one of the
first purchases I had planned", Archer said. "The system is an
invaluable tool for us, due to the high volume of special venue
large format programming work that we do, such as the upcoming IMAX
feature "Michael Jordan To The Max."
Tim Archer, CEO
Master's workshop, Toronto, Canada
"ServerSound is the most useful audio production tool
since the creation of software based sound editing. What used to
take hours now takes only minutes, and lost CD's are a thing of the
past. I never realized how much FUN sound effects design could be
until we started using ServerSound."
Aubrey Hodges, Midway Home

"My ServerSound is the coolest! As you guys say, "a
network is a terrible thing to waste." Now my network is really
humming...all of our workstation and users (PC and MAC) are sharing
files like crazy! And it was really simple to load one of our custom
created FX libraries ontothe Msoft Server, master the database, and
give everyone access to thousands of new FX, permanently and almost
instantly. The ServerSound system has sparked several new ideas
about how to handle sound data here, and it's functionality seems
only limited by how quickly we can add disk space. We also applaud
the seamless integration with our Waveframe and Protools systems.
bravo!"
Michael Bard, Owner Newton
Bard Inc., Portland, OR
"As we all know, sound is half the picture, and for
this new comedy series, each sketch very much enters its own world,
peopled by the funny, bizzare and downright scary. For myself and
director Eric Haines, the facility to audition and download sound
textures that gave flesh and substance to those worlds we were
creating was absolutely invaluable. No more endless rooting around
CD FX libraries, no more transfer time to tape formats, no more
begging calls to busy sound dubbing suites. Once you've used
Pro-spotter, it's hard to imagine going back to living without it,
especially for any drama cutting you might be doing. We've expanded
to a three site setup spread between Edinburgh and Glasgow (and are
contemplating more to cut down on the routine fisticuffs occurring
when you can't get on it). Recommended!"
