MusicCue 3.0: New Interface, Group Functions, Better Tracking

It’s new. It’s cool. It’s got all the features you always wanted. It’s MusicCue 3.0 and it’s ready for delivery. The latest version of our popular digital asset management system features a brand-new, user-friendly interface based on the familiar directory format made popular by search engines like Google™ and Yahoo™.

The new drill-down format and 4 million cross references makes it simple to find a gem among the 800,000 tracks entrusted to mSoft by the production music industry.

Another powerful advance is the ability to create unlimited groups of libraries the user can access with a single click. For example, users can set libraries grouped by “blanket” and “laser drop” license to narrow searches to libraries under those agreements first, which can lead to real cost savings. Any user can setup and search multiple customized groups of libraries from a group menu.

As always, the whole kit and caboodle is installed onsite via your local area network, and the software at the core of the system has been certified to work with every digital audio and video workstation used worldwide.

“We redesigned the system from the ground up based on comments from existing users to provide expandable capacity and maximum capabilities for the entire industry,” says CEO Amnon Sarig. “Power users love it but even casual users appreciate its speed and straight forward interface. There is nothing new to learn – if you can search the Internet, you will feel right at home with this new system.”

Caterini Subscribes to ServerSound

New York’s Caterini Studios became the first production facility to sign on to mSoft Inc.’s new subscription plan when it accepted delivery of its 250GB ServerSound 3.0 system last month.

Caterini is a five-bay facility that specializes in sound effects for documentaries. With 250 CDs, the company needed a better way to manage its audio library. Flipping through catalogs of effects and then browsing stacks of CDs just didn’t produce the results the company needed.

With ServerSound, Caterini engineers can easily sort, search, demo and track any audio clip from its established library. If the company ever decides to upgrade, or if it just wants to add libraries, it has access to mSoft’s online eOrder system, which facilitates communication between clients and library publishers. Plus, as part of the subscription package, all maintenance and software upgrades are included, so Caterini will never be stuck with old technology.

“The subscription plan makes it simple for every facility to get on board with the easiest, most comprehensive digital asset management system built specifically for the production environment,” says Doug Perkins, VP Sales at mSoft. “Probably the best part for Caterini is that they’re getting something they wanted for several years – something to boost quality – but at a fraction of the cost.”

Caterini’s General Manager Eli Weissman says the system increases the amount and excellence of output. “It really does improve the quality of work we’re able to do.”
